Opening Afterparties

Music moved into the foreground after the Night on Earth openings. Mizlewska Bar, which is looping a video installation by Maija Luutonen, welcomed DJs, as well as artists and gallery visitors not ready to call it an early night.

Kunstfabrik (”art factory”), located in an artist’s warehouse loft near the galleries, hosted the even later night entertainment. The Night on Earth after party warmed up with a dance performance by Xiao Ke, accompanied musically by Huzi. After an evening of observation, event goers moved onto dancing. DJ Candle in the Wind spun everything from T. Rex to Jaakko Eino Kalevi, a Finnish musician who performed earlier that evening at another opening related to HelsinKiss Berlin.

By the time Moby Dictator, aka Tuomas Laitinen, performed the crowd had already worked up a sweat and filled the room up with ambient smoke; neither being a hindrance to partying, of course.
